Natural polymer for fresh fruit coating

Graduate student Abrar Sabaah in Horticulture and Landscape department produced chitosan, a safe nature polymer made from the hard outer skeleton of shell shrimp in department labs.  Chitosan could be used for fruit coating to prevent microbial spoilage, and extend shelf-life. The study is supervised by Dr. Khawla Hamzah and Dr. Hamzah Abass.
