Welcome to the website of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah. I am pleased and honored to be leading this prestigious college, which is considered one of the basic pillars of the University of Basrah and a center for academic excellence and scientific research in the field of agriculture. The College of Agriculture was established at the University of Basra in 1971, as one of the first academic edifices at the university, and based on that, we work with an ambitious vision that aims to advance the agricultural sector and enhance the role of scientific research in this important field for achieving sustainable development. The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah includes eight specialized scientific departments: Department of Food Sciences, Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Department of Horticulture and Landscape , Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources, Department of Animal Production, Department of Plant Protection, the Department of Agricultural Machinery , and Department of Field Crops. These departments offer integrated and distinguished educational programs in various scientific fields, including food sciences and biotechnology, agricultural sciences, agricultural engineering, life sciences, agricultural economics, and others. We strive to provide an advanced and inspiring educational environment that contributes to the development of students’ skills and enhances their scientific and practical abilities, to enable them to achieve their ambitions and professional goals at the highest levels. The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah focuses on developing scientific research and innovation, by supporting research projects and providing cooperation opportunities between professors and students, as well as with government agencies and international organizations supporting the agricultural sector. We also strive to link the theoretical aspect with practical application, which contributes to finding solutions to contemporary agricultural challenges and developing sustainable agricultural techniques that meet the needs of society and the agricultural sector. We also work to strengthen partnerships with the local community and agricultural institutions, out of our belief in the importance of cooperation to achieve sustainable development and keep pace with market needs and the challenges of the agricultural sector.
