The College of Agriculture / Department of Food Sciences at the University of Basra organized a discussion session on the use of the Spray drying method in microencapsulation of therapeutic microorganisms and studying its effect inside and outside the living body.

The session, which was lectured by graduate student / PhD Asaad Shamel Attia and supervised by Professor Dr. Alaa Karim Naima and Professor Dr. Haider Ibrahim Ali, aimed to separate the whey of buffalo milk and dry it with a Spray drying device and use it with gum Arabic to encapsulate Limosilactobacillus reuteri bacteria using a vacuum oven drying device and according to the proportions suggested by the Design of Experiments program for the mixture.

It was concluded that the number of bacteria and the efficiency of the encapsulation were not affected during 6 months of storage.
