A doctoral thesis in the Department of Animal Production at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra discussed the manufacture of an AFEX technology device and its use in improving the nutritional value of rough feed materials and their nutrition for Awassi lambs. The thesis of the student, Mustafa Raysan Kazim, and the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Ali Jabbar, showed the design and manufacture of a device for treating rough fodder with ammonia under pressure and temperature, in addition to maintaining the amount of ammonia used and reusing it many times. The thesis aimed to manufacture this device locally at very simple prices. When using it, it worked to improve the nutritional value of the collards, and the percentage of protein increased from 2.1% to 23.24%, in addition to improving the proportions of various nutrients as a result of breaking the lignin bonds and liberating these elements, and when feeding it to lambs, it worked to improve Body weights, weight gain and food conversion efficiency, in addition to improving rumen parameters.
