In its ongoing pursuit of excellence and academic distinction, the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra has achieved a unique institutional distinction by obtaining full program accreditation for all eight of its academic departments from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority/National Council for Accreditation of Agricultural Colleges' Programs).
The Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, received the program accreditation certificates for all departments. These certificates document the academic programs' compliance with all standards of rigor, quality, and institutional accreditation, and are valid for the next five years, from April 26, 2026, to April 25, 2031. The certificates were officially presented by the Head of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Salah Hadi Saleh, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Deans' Committee held at the University of Karbala in the holy city of Karbala. The meeting also included the presentation of letters of thanks and appreciation for the exceptional efforts made in achieving this advanced national accomplishment. This achievement is a result of the tireless and distinguished efforts exerted by the University of Basra, the College Deanship, department heads, specialized committees, and teaching staff to elevate the level of the educational and research process, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and national academic accreditation standards, to enhance the outcomes of higher education in Iraq.
