College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a training course aimed at using extracts of medicinal and aromatic plants as alternatives to chemical pesticides to treat bacterial infections. Dr.. What is Haider Sobeih?
 Introducing students to medicinal and aromatic plants, active substances, secondary metabolic compounds, and the most important medicinal and aromatic plants from which the active substances are extracted.
 The lecturer explained a brief overview of the most important plants used in the extraction, their contents of active substances, and the mechanism of action of the active substances.
The attendees participated in the course in scientific discussions and put forward ideas that serve the agricultural reality as well as increase productivity in quantity and quality and in a modern scientific style that keeps pace with the rapid development.
The session recommended the importance of extracted medicinal and aromatic plants and the importance of active substances in the optimal use of eliminating pathogens and insects instead of using chemical pesticides that cause disease conditions as well as genetic mutations harmful to plants and animals.
