Lecturer at College of Agriculture publishes a review article in an international journal within Springer Publisher

 Prof.Dr. Elham Jabbar Jalil at Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources, College of Agriculture - University of Basrah, Published a review in Evo_Devo Journal, titled " The diversity and evolution of electric organs in Neotropical knifefishes".
The review dealt with the diversity and evolution of electrical organs in the tropical South American fish Gymnotiformes. 

These fish have specialized electrical organs capable of release electrical dischardge into the water, in order to locate and communicate with each other, and sometimes use them for predation and self-defense. 
The study also showed that all of these fish possess an myogenic electric organ (mEO) derived from muscle tissue. 
It is noteworthy that the study was with the participation of a number of researchers from the United Kingdom and based on the vision and directives of the Ministry and the University regarding increasing research cooperation with foreign universities.
