The Media of college of Agriculture
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah held a seminar entitled “Study of the Drought Effect on Plants,” presented by a postgraduate student Ph.D., Safa Mohammed Hassen, in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Design.
 The Seminar aimed to produce drought-tolerant plants by using some chemical compounds by spraying plants with these compounds (traditional agriculture) or adding these materials, which included adding the PEG to the nutrient medium, which helps in producing drought-tolerant plants. This seminar discussed the effect of using PEG compound in tissue culture technique by adding it to the nutrient medium at different concentrations for the purpose of producing drought-tolerant plants. The most important results obtained are that the use of some chemical compounds, including PEG, when added to the nutrient medium in low concentrations, had an effect in producing drought-tolerant plants.
