In an atmosphere filled with sadness and loyalty, and with the arrival of the holy month of Muharram, the month of sacrifice and redemption for the sake of Islam, and under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, the respected Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmed Ghazi Muhammad Al-Shawi, the respected Scientific Assistant, the respected Administrative Assistant, and the respected heads of the college’s departments participated in the ceremony of raising the flag of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Bab Al-Zubair site - Central Library Square at nine o’clock in the morning. The respected Dean also participated in receiving the Advisor to the Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, Hajj Fadel Oz, and his accompanying delegation during his participation in the flag-raising ceremony. During the ceremony, a speech was delivered by the esteemed President of the University of Basra, who called on the university's cadres to adhere to the principles of the Husseini renaissance and renew their pledge to raise the banner of truth and dignity. He praised the university's role in linking knowledge with religious and national awareness and its constant emphasis on loyalty to the sacrifices of the martyrs.
