The Dean and professors of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra participated in the "Iraqi Environmental Encyclopedia" project, launched by the Bahr Al-Uloom Charitable Foundation, alongside a group of prominent national scientists from various universities and relevant ministries.
The project aims to create a pioneering scientific encyclopedia that combines environmental documentation and academic knowledge, becoming a primary resource for students, researchers, and relevant government agencies.
The project will include the preparation of printed and electronic volumes that can be continuously updated over a period of one year or more to achieve sustainable knowledge transfer and keep pace with environmental developments. This project is in line with national environmental development efforts, as the encyclopedia will contribute to supporting institutional planning strategies and environmental decision-making by providing an accurate and up-to-date scientific database that includes environmental concepts and field practices related to agriculture and natural resource exploitation.
The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Muhammad Al-Shawi, expressed his pride in the college's cooperation in this vital project, emphasizing that the participation of a group of professors and researchers represents an important starting point for strengthening the Iraqi scientific environment and contributing to supporting national environmental policies.
The Bahr Al-Uloom Charitable Foundation revealed that the project will extend over a full year, during which data will be collected, organized, and converted into printed publications and a renewable digital archive. This will enhance access to knowledge for the widest possible segment of the academic community and relevant institutions.
