The Basra Journal of Agricultural Sciences, along with two other scientific journals published by the University of Basra, has been included in the international database AGRIS (Agricultural Science and Technology International Information System), affiliated with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
This inclusion came after the journals were evaluated as open-access platforms containing research of outstanding scientific value in the fields of agriculture, veterinary medicine, and aquaculture. This contributes to raising the global visibility of Basra University's research and highlights Iraq's contribution to supporting agricultural knowledge.
Researchers worldwide will now be able to access the data from these journals via the AGRIS platform, using the OAI-PMH protocol used to collect and update article data on a monthly basis. The AGRIS platform identifies the University of Basra under the official identifier: AGRIS Data Provider ID: IB2.
The possibility of awarding the University of Basra the "AGRIS Data Provider Seal" was also presented. This certificate of appreciation is awarded to institutions collaborating with AGRIS and demonstrates their commitment to disseminating agricultural knowledge in an open and accessible manner.
