Assistant Professor Dr. Jaafar Muhammad Awaid, from the Department of Animal Production at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, participated as a discussion member in a master's thesis entitled "Association Analysis between the Genetic Polymorphisms of the GnRH Gene and Some Growth Traits of Quail."
The thesis was presented by researcher Hazem Razzaq Hassan, from the Department of Animal Production at the College of Agriculture and Marshlands at the University of Dhi Qar. The study aimed to reveal the genetic variations of the GnRH gene and their association with the productive traits of quail, as an early indicator that can be relied upon in genetic selection programs.
The thesis concluded that some genetic variations of the aforementioned gene showed a significant effect at significance levels of 0.05 and 0.01 on a number of productive traits, which strengthens the possibility of adopting this gene as a selection criterion for improving quail performance.
