The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra participated in an international academic meeting to discuss the shared water crisis with an Iranian delegation.

The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, represented by the Scientific Assistant to the Dean of the College, Professor Sadiq Mohsen Jabbar, participated in the scientific meeting hosted by the University of Basra. The meeting brought together a select group of researchers from various colleges and research centers at the university, along with an academic and environmental delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting focused on discussing the environmental challenges related to water scarcity and pollution in the rivers and marshes shared by Iraq and Iran. Participants highlighted the negative impacts of climate change and water policies in upstream countries, as well as their serious repercussions on local ecosystems.

During his remarks, the Scientific Assistant of the College of Agriculture emphasized the importance of research cooperation and the exchange of expertise between Iraqi and Iranian universities, emphasizing the need to develop joint projects that contribute to finding sustainable scientific solutions to address the water crisis.

This meeting is an important step toward strengthening scientific and environmental partnerships between the two countries, supporting efforts to address water challenges in the region and achieving water and environmental security for future generations.
