
The Presidency of the University of Basra received the National Accreditation Team as part of the process to obtain institutional accreditation from the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority of the Quality Assurance and Academic Performance Directorate at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The meeting was chaired by University President, Prof. Dr. Mohannad Jawad Al-Assadi, and attended by the Academic Advisor, Prof. Dr. Haider Khazal, the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, and members of the University Council. Participants discussed ways to enhance the quality culture and meet the requirements for institutional accreditation at all levels.
During the meeting, the University President affirmed that the University of Basra is steadily progressing towards meeting all accreditation standards, and is working to enhance its academic and administrative capabilities in line with its continuous development plans. He noted that the visit of the national team is an important support for the university's efforts to achieve academic excellence and serve the community.
Dr. Al-Assadi also indicated that the recommendations and observations provided by the team will serve as a roadmap for improving academic and research performance, praising the role of the university's colleges, including the College of Agriculture, in achieving these goals through their active engagement with quality standards.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Agriculture expressed his full support for the institutional accreditation project, emphasizing that the college is committed to implementing continuous improvement plans and sharing its expertise and achievements within the overall institutional framework of the university.
In conclusion, the University President stressed that this visit reflects the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's interest in monitoring the performance of Iraqi universities and encouraging them to apply the best international quality standards, which strengthens the position of the University of Basra as a leading academic institution at both the national and regional levels.
