Professor Dr. Nawfal Abdul Amir Hussein, a lecturer at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, participated in an awareness seminar on the challenges of healthy nutrition, held at Al-Farqadayn University in Basra Governorate.

The lecture included a lecture titled "Challenges of Healthy Nutrition."

The lecture aimed to highlight the most prominent factors influencing human health from an integrated perspective that combines genetic factors, lifestyle, and the environment.

The seminar focused on the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, immune disorders, and cancer, largely attributing this to modern lifestyles, primarily unhealthy eating habits, excessive consumption of processed foods and sugars, and low consumption of natural fibers.

She also addressed the impact of an imbalance in the gut microbiome on weakening the body's immunity and increasing susceptibility to inflammatory diseases. She also touched on the disruption of the circadian rhythm resulting from chronic sleeplessness or irregular meal times, which results in disruptions in the secretion of vital metabolic hormones such as insulin and melatonin, leading to impaired cellular repair and tissue regeneration processes.
