A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, investigated "The Effect of Starch Coating Urea Fertilizer on Nitrogen Availability and Maize Growth."

The thesis, presented by researcher Noor Al-Huda Karim Jassim, aimed to study the effect of starch coating on nitrogen availability in the soil and its impact on plant growth, as well as to evaluate its role in regulating nitrogen release and reducing nitrogen loss.

The study compared coated and uncoated urea and monitored nitrogen availability and maize growth indicators.

The results demonstrated the importance of coating in improving plant nitrogen utilization efficiency and reducing losses. The study recommended expanding the use of natural materials for fertilizer coating and conducting field trials to determine the optimal coating ratios, enhance fertilization efficiency, and achieve sustainable agricultural production.
