
Dr. Asim Nasser Mansour, a lecturer at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, participated as a lecturer in a training workshop held at the Extension Training Center in Basra Governorate on water extension and its role in sustainable agricultural development.
The workshop included a discussion of the reality of water resources in Iraq and the importance of water in achieving food security and agricultural development. It also highlighted key challenges such as climate change, soil salinization, and the decline in water use efficiency in the fields.
The workshop also addressed the role of agricultural extension in raising farmers' awareness and adopting integrated water management practices. It also reviewed the concept of agricultural extension and its objectives in rural development, as well as the most important modern methods and techniques for rationalizing water use.
