The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organizes awareness seminars on the dangers of drugs.

The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the University's Psychological Counseling Center, organized an awareness seminar on "Drug Addiction and its Negative Effects on Society," aiming to enhance awareness among students, staff, and faculty members regarding prevention and treatment methods.

The seminar included two lectures delivered by Dr. Heba Majeed Issa, Director of the Psychological Counseling Center, and Colonel (Legal Affairs Officer), Assistant Director of Basra Narcotics Affairs, on the psychological, economic, and social disorders of drug addicts and ways to treat them.

The seminar also addressed the definition of types of drugs and their prevalence, clarifying the dangers of drug use and its psychological and health effects, offering advice on prevention, and highlighting the role of clinics and rehabilitation centers.

The presentations emphasized the reasons for drifting towards drug use, including unemployment, poor mood, and lack of commitment, in addition to the physical, psychological, and long-term damage caused by drugs.
