The University of Basra organizes a scientific visit to the Al-Haritha warehouses belonging to the Ministry of Trade.

In order to enhance the practical application of the curriculum and bridge the gap between theory and practice, the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a field trip for fourth-year students to the Al-Haritha warehouse complex, belonging to the General Company for Foodstuff Trading in Basra Governorate. This trip was part of the requirements for the "Food Processing" course for the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.

The visit, accompanied by the course instructors Dr. Wasan Kadhim Abdul-Razzaq, Dr. Mohammed Ziyara Iskandar, and Dr. Alaa Mohammed Sadkhan, aimed to familiarize students with the mechanisms used in storing and distributing essential food items, a responsibility borne by the General Company for Foodstuff Trading under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade.

The academic and student delegation was warmly received by the site management, represented by Mr. Raed Shaher Lazem, Director of the Basra branch of the company, and Dr. Ali Abdul-Amir.

The field trip included a tour of the rice, cooking oil, and tomato paste warehouses, and a detailed explanation of the storage and processing procedures, as well as the collection of samples for testing. This visit is part of the College of Agriculture's commitment to providing its students with the necessary field experience to prepare them for the job market with high competence in the areas of food safety, storage, and management.
