The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra receives a scientific visit from Al-Haramain Girls High School to enhance students’ applied knowledge.

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra welcomed a student delegation from Al-Haramain Girls' High School in Basra as part of a program of scientific visits aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical education and practical applications.

This visit, within the framework of joint cooperation between educational institutions, aimed to introduce the new generation to agricultural sciences and their importance in supporting the local economy and the environment.

The visit included an extensive and guided tour of the college's scientific facilities. During the tour, the students visited the insect laboratories and museum in the Plant Protection Department, the medicinal plants and essential oils unit and the plant greenhouse in the medicinal plants unit to learn about extraction methods, the cattle and duck pen belonging to the Animal Production Department to observe the principles of animal management and care, and the university's food processing laboratory.

The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, indicated that these visits aim to raise awareness of the importance of agricultural specializations and encourage innovation in the field of food security.
