The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized an awareness seminar on "The Dangers of Illegal Migration and Ways to Reduce It."
The seminar aimed to highlight the negative consequences of irregular migration, review the reasons and motivations that drive young people to choose this path, and clarify the legal and social problems faced by migrants in their destination countries, where they are classified as "illegal immigrants," exposing them to harsh legal repercussions.
The seminar included a lecture by Dr. Mohammed Malik Yassin, who addressed the definition of irregular migration: the movement of individuals from one country to another in violation of the laws and regulations of the destination country, whether by entering without a visa or overstaying their permitted period. He also explained the international and local laws that penalize illegal migration and how developed countries deal with asylum seekers who may face the obstacle of "forced deportation" if their countries of origin refuse to accept them.
