A master's thesis at the University of Basra investigates the effect of ozone fumigation and packaging type on the storability of three date palm varieties.

A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, was titled "The Effect of Ozone Fumigation and Packaging Type on the Storage Capacity of Three Date Palm Varieties."

The thesis, presented by researcher Hiba Haider Omran, aimed to evaluate the effect of ozone fumigation, packaging materials (plastic and ceramic), and storage periods on improving storage characteristics and preserving the quality of three date palm varieties.

The study included a laboratory experiment to determine the response of the three date palm varieties to ozone treatment and different packaging types during storage periods, focusing on their storage characteristics, chemical properties, and physical properties.

The thesis recommended the effectiveness of treating the fruit with ozone fumigation for six hours, along with the use of ceramic containers, to improve the storage capacity and quality characteristics of date palm fruits during storage periods.
