The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra hosted today the periodic meeting of the Committee of Deans of Colleges of Agriculture in Iraq. Deans from various Iraqi universities attended the meeting, which was opened by the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi. In his opening remarks, Professor Al-Asadi welcomed the deans, expressing his appreciation for their attendance and active participation. He emphasized the pivotal role of colleges of agriculture in graduating generations of agricultural professionals and experts in the fields of agriculture and food science, and in supporting food security and sustainable development.
The University President also urged the deans to develop practical solutions to increase student enrollment in colleges of agriculture, raise the standards and admission requirements for evening and postgraduate studies, and address the challenges facing these colleges to help them regain their leading academic standing.
At the conclusion of the events, the University President honored the deans of the attending colleges of agriculture in recognition of their scientific and academic efforts. Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, presented a special token of appreciation to the University President for his unwavering and continuous support of the College of Agriculture and his commitment to elevating its scientific, cultural, and academic standing, making it a scientific and training center for farmers, researchers, and specialists in the agricultural field.
