Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi, and in the presence of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Haider Khazal Mahbas, Dr. Faris Ibrahim Ubaid, a faculty member in the College of Agriculture, achieved a remarkable sporting accomplishment by winning first place in the "Martyrs of the Victory Leaders" cross-country race. The race was organized by the Student Activities Department at the University Presidency on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The race, held in commemoration of the "Leaders of Victory," witnessed wide participation from university staff and students. Dr. Faris Ibrahim demonstrated exceptional physical fitness and determination, enabling him to lead the race and cross the finish line first among the runners.

The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Muhammad Al-Shawi, expressed his pride in this achievement, which adds to the record of accomplishments of the college's faculty and staff. He emphasized that the excellence of the teaching staff is not limited to scientific and research aspects, but extends to sports activities and university events that promote a spirit of fair competition and physical activity on campus.
