The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organizes a scientific visit to the Entrepreneurial Manufacturing Laboratory of the Food Science Department at the College of Agriculture

The Food Science Department at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, organized a practical field trip for first-year students to the department's pioneering dairy processing laboratory. This trip was part of the practical component of the Engineering Workshops course.

The visit included a detailed tour of the modern production lines, with a focus on the processes for manufacturing yogurt and white cheese.

Dr. Ali Khudair Jabr provided a comprehensive explanation of the scientific and manufacturing aspects of dairy products, highlighting the laboratory's technical capabilities in developing food products that meet standard specifications and how to manage the biological processes within the production lines.

In the context of linking food processing with machinery, Dr. Hassan Hadi Hussein, the Engineering Workshops instructor, delivered a specialized lecture covering the operation of the mechanical equipment used in the laboratory, the engineering design of the production lines, operational maintenance methods, refrigeration and mixing technologies, and how to adapt machinery to serve food products. The visit concluded with an interactive practical lesson where students participated in the ice cream-making process, from preparing the basic mix to the final freezing stages. This provided them with an opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with direct application in a practical, entrepreneurial work environment.
