University of Basra organizes a seminar on diagnosing plant diseases and pests

The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled "From Field to Laboratory: Effective Methodologies for Sampling and Diagnosing Plant Diseases and Pests."

The seminar aimed to clarify the importance and methods of sampling in the field of plant protection. Presented by Dr. Mohammed Hamza Abbas and Dr. Aqeel Adnan Abdul Sayed, the seminar emphasized the importance and methods of sampling in plant protection, considering it a fundamental step in diagnosing pests and diseases and accurately assessing their severity.

The seminar included a presentation of the scientific principles of field sample design and the most important techniques used in collecting samples, both traditional and modern. It also highlighted the role of sampling in supporting decision-making within integrated pest management programs, contributing to improved pest management efficiency and reduced agricultural losses.

The seminar recommended enhancing scientific knowledge of modern sampling methods and linking them to practical applications in diagnosing plant diseases and pests, thereby supporting the development of integrated pest management programs.
