The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar on "Pest Control Using Plants: Mechanisms and Applications."
The seminar, presented by Dr. Amjad Abbas Fadhil Al-Saadi, aimed to explore the role of plants, which are among the most effective and natural weapons in pest control, whether through their production of natural chemical compounds or their morphological strategies.
The seminar also covered the use of plants in integrated pest management strategies to achieve sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture, thus reducing the use of chemical pesticides and maintaining ecological balance.
The seminar addressed key practical applications in this field, including the cultivation of repellent plants, intercropping, and the use of plant extracts in pest control.
