Faculty members from the Aquaculture Unit at the College of Agriculture visit the Palm Research Center at the University of Basra

A number of faculty members from the Aquaculture Unit at the College of Agriculture visited the Date Palm Research Center at the University of Basra on a scientific visit aimed at expanding scientific cooperation and learning about the latest technologies used in date palm propagation and production improvement.

The visit included a scientific tour of the center's specialized laboratories, supervised by Dr. Khayoun Ali Mohsen, a specialist in tissue culture date palm production. The faculty members learned about the nature of the research and applied work carried out by the center, as well as the modern equipment and methods used in laboratory studies related to date palm cultivation, the propagation of local varieties, and the improvement of their productive characteristics.

The faculty members also learned about the stages of offshoot production and the propagation mechanisms used to ensure the availability of high-quality offshoots that contribute to supporting agricultural sector development plans.

The participants emphasized that this visit represents an important step towards activating scientific cooperation and exchanging research expertise between the Aquaculture Unit and the Date Palm Research Center, serving the college's objectives of supporting rigorous scientific research and applying its results to serve the community and sustainable agricultural development.
