A number of faculty members from the Aquaculture Unit at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, visited the Al-Sharsh Fish Hatchery, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture in Basra Governorate. The scientific visit aimed to enhance practical application and expand cooperation with production institutions, as well as to learn about the latest technologies used in fish breeding and fingerling production.
The visit included a field tour of the hatchery's various sections to observe the operational mechanisms used in managing the ponds and caring for broodstock, and the basic stages of larval production and incubation up to the fingerling stage.
The participants emphasized that this visit represents an important step in strengthening the integration between the academic and practical aspects of the field, and contributes to the exchange of scientific and practical expertise. This supports the college's efforts to develop the aquaculture sector and improve local fish production to serve the goals of sustainable development.
