The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled "The Effect of Gibberellins on Wheat Growth and Yield."
The seminar, presented by researcher Fatima Adnan Faraj, aimed to investigate the effect of gibberellin on improving wheat growth and productivity by reviewing field studies conducted in Iraq, Egypt, and Pakistan.
The study indicated that spraying gibberellins at different concentrations improves plant height, number of tillers, spike length, grain weight, and total yield. It also contributes to mitigating the effects of salt stress and drought and improving irrigation efficiency.
The studies also showed positive interactions between gibberellins and nitrogen fertilization, herbicides, and other growth regulators, which leads to increased production and improved grain quality.
