The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a workshop entitled "Achievements of the Aquaculture Unit," attended by the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Sadiq Jabbar Mohsen, and a number of faculty members and researchers from the College of Agriculture and the Aquaculture Unit.
The workshop, presented by the Director of the Aquaculture Unit, Professor Dr. Jalal Mohammed Issa, reviewed the administrative and scientific aspects of the unit's work during the current year and previous years, highlighting its most significant achievements and its role in supporting scientific research, practical training, and community service, thus contributing to the development of the aquaculture sector and enhancing food security.
The workshop included detailed presentations of the most prominent scientific and research activities implemented by the unit, training programs for students and researchers, and applied projects that have contributed to developing students' skills and linking theoretical aspects with practical applications in the field of fish and aquaculture. The meeting also highlighted various aspects of scientific collaboration with governmental institutions and the private sector, efforts to disseminate modern technologies for sustainable aquaculture, and future plans aimed at developing the unit's infrastructure and expanding its research and production activities to keep pace with the latest developments in the field.
