Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, participated in the opening ceremony of the Migration Resource Center (MRC) in Basra Governorate. The center was established through a collaboration between the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), with support from the Dutch government.

This participation aims to strengthen the University of Basra's role in supporting development and humanitarian initiatives and building partnerships with governmental institutions and international organizations, thereby contributing to reducing irregular migration and promoting social stability.

Dr. Al-Shawi emphasized that the College of Agriculture is committed to utilizing its scientific and research capabilities to serve the community and to align its academic output with humanitarian and development initiatives, thereby enhancing sustainable development and economic stability in Iraq.
