A doctoral dissertation at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, explored "Extracting Bioprecursors from Grain Byproducts and Studying Their Nutritional and Physiological Effects on Common Carp Juveniles."

The dissertation, submitted by researcher Zainab Shaker Salem, aimed to study the efficiency of extracting bioprecursors from wheat bran, barley bran, and rice bran using simple and cost-effective methods for use in fish feed.

The study concluded that bioprecursors extracted from agricultural byproducts represent a promising nutritional strategy for improving the nutrition of common carp.

The study recommended encouraging the use of agricultural byproducts in the production of low-cost feed additives that support sustainability and promote the development of the aquaculture sector.
