In the context of strengthening international academic cooperation and exchanging scientific expertise, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, along with several faculty members, participated in the "Training Course on Desertification Control Technologies for Arab Countries."
This official course was held with the support and organization of relevant Chinese authorities. It was organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and hosted and conducted by the Forestry and Herb Research Institute of the Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences in Yinchuan, China, from July 28 to August 17, 2026.
This significant participation reflects the University of Basra's commitment to learning about the latest global technologies and advanced expertise in combating desertification and managing forest and rangeland environments, thereby serving the environmental and agricultural realities in Iraq.
