The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra announced that it has received official approval to establish an evening program in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering, starting in the 2026-2027 academic year. This step aims to expand university education opportunities and develop academic programs to meet the demands of the labor market and the needs of the agricultural sector.

The President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi, affirmed that the establishment of the evening program aligns with the university's efforts to develop its academic programs and open new educational pathways for students. He pointed to the importance of the horticulture and landscape engineering specialization in supporting the agricultural sector, enhancing green spaces, and promoting sustainable development.

The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, welcomed the establishment of the evening program, emphasizing that it represents a qualitative addition to the college's academic journey and contributes to preparing specialized scientific and professional personnel capable of serving the agricultural and environmental sectors.

The Dean stated, "The establishment of the evening program reflects the College of Agriculture's commitment to keeping pace with the requirements of university education and the labor market, and to providing new educational opportunities for students, thereby strengthening the college's role in serving the community and supporting sustainable agricultural development."

This new program comes after fulfilling all the necessary requirements, regulations, and approved guidelines, enhancing educational pathways within the College of Agriculture and opening new horizons for students specializing in horticulture and landscape engineering.
