Dr. Khalida Salem Khudair, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, chaired the master's thesis defense committee for researcher Asim Ahmed Younis at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra. His thesis was titled "A Morphological Study of Parasites Associated with the Partially Identified Sea Crab Portunus pelagicus."
The thesis aimed to study the parasites associated with the sea crab Portunus pelagicus, identify their morphological characteristics, and partially identify them. This contributes to expanding knowledge about the parasitic diversity affecting this economically important species.
The study recommended conducting extensive parasitological surveys of other sea crab species in Iraqi marine waters and employing molecular tests alongside morphological examinations for accurate parasite identification. This is crucial for assessing the overall health of fish stocks and aquatic resources.
