A delegation from the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra discusses prospects for joint cooperation with the administration of the Umm Qasr North Port.

An official delegation from the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, headed by the Dean, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, visited the Umm Qasr North Port. The delegation included several professors from the Agricultural Consulting Office and the heads of the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment and Plant Protection departments. They were warmly received by the port director, Captain Salem Jabbar Hussein.

During the visit, the delegation toured the port's infrastructure and facilities, learning about its operational capabilities. The two sides then held a meeting to discuss future cooperation and ways to enhance integration between the academic institution and the vital agricultural sector.

The most prominent areas of cooperation discussed during the meeting included: training and qualification, organizing specialized courses for port employees offered by the Agricultural Consulting Office in the fields of horticulture, food science, and plant protection; consulting representation; including the Director of the Umm Qasr North Port as a member of the Industrial Advisory Council at the College of Agriculture to strengthen ties between the two sides; development and the environment; contributing to improving the environmental and aesthetic conditions of the port and its facilities through afforestation and landscaping projects; technical services and projects; and the possibility of assigning consulting and implementation projects to the Agricultural Consulting Office, including laboratory tests and analyses and the implementation of joint technical initiatives.
