The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a central celebration marking Iraqi National Day and National Sovereignty Day. The event was attended by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, along with his deputies, and saw broad participation from faculty members, staff, and a large gathering of students.
The ceremony began with the playing of the Iraqi national anthem, followed by a moment of silence and the recitation of *Surat Al-Fatiha* in honor of Iraq’s righteous martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland and its sovereignty.
In his address, the Dean emphasized the importance of reflecting on the significance of independence and sovereignty and taking pride in national identity. He affirmed that educational and academic institutions serve as the fundamental pillar for building the future and bolstering the nation's scientific and productive progress.
The event featured various activities presented by students and staff, including poetry recitations and cultural performances that highlighted Iraq’s glories and illustrious history, all amidst an atmosphere filled with a spirit of belonging and pride in these cherished national occasions.
