The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah enhances student knowledge and culture by launching its first cultural competition.

The first cultural and knowledge-based competition for students at the University of Basrah’s College of Agriculture has kicked off. The event was attended by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, along with faculty members and students, and saw broad participation from students across the college's academic departments.

Organized by the Student Activities Division and the Media and Government Communication Division—in collaboration with the students themselves—the competition aims to enrich the students' cultural and intellectual knowledge, foster a spirit of positive competition, and encourage them to broaden their scientific and cultural horizons alongside their academic studies.

Eight teams, representing the college's eight departments, are participating in the event. The competition features a diverse range of scientific, cultural, and general knowledge questions, allowing students to utilize their knowledge and develop their intellectual capabilities within a constructive, competitive atmosphere.

The opening day featured a match between the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering and the Department of Animal Production. The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering team emerged victorious following a contest marked by enthusiasm and active student engagement.

The College Deanship emphasized the importance of such student-led initiatives in enriching the university environment, developing students' scientific and cultural abilities, and fostering a spirit of cooperation and fair play—all of which contribute to building a well-rounded university personality.
