The College of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection organized a seminar on Control of Melon stem blight disease using Trichoderma viride and chitosan.
The discussion session, which was lectured by Iman Jabbar Muhammad (MSc student), aimed at the isolation and identification of fungi causing Melon stem blight disease, with their morphological and molecular identification, and the possibility of controlling the disease using the bio agent Trichoderma viride and chitosan compound.
The seminar showed the surveying of the planted regions with melons in Basra Governorate to determine the infection rates with melon stem blight disease. Moreover, the identification of different pathogens that are associated with melon stem blight, both phenotypically and molecularly, and testing their pathogenicity.
The seminar addressed the efficiency of Trichoderma viride and chitosan in controlling when used in pot experiments and field experiments.
