The University of Basra organizes a scientific symposium on the role of modern technologies in reducing the spread of agricultural pests.

The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a scientific symposium on modern technologies used in sustainable agriculture to reduce the spread of agricultural pests (insects and diseases).

The symposium aimed to understand the challenges posed by agricultural pests to modern agriculture, define sustainable agriculture, and highlight the most prominent techniques used in early pest monitoring.

The symposium, presented by Professor Dr. Muslim Ashour Abdul Wahid and Assistant Professor Dr. Laila Abdul Rahim Baniyan, included a new framework for pest management within the sustainable agriculture system, which avoids the traditional approach of over-reliance on chemical pesticides.

The symposium recommended the development of training programs for farmers and agricultural engineers on the use of these technologies, as well as the laws regulating the use of drones and genetically modified organisms.
