The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra holds its annual evaluation conference for the academic year 2024–202

The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah held its annual evaluation conference for the 2024-2025 academic year under the theme: “Towards a Sustainable Agricultural Future Through Innovation and Research Excellence.” The conference was attended by the President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Kadhim Al-Asadi, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, and faculty members from the College of Agriculture.

The conference included a comprehensive review and thorough evaluation of scientific, administrative, financial, and legal achievements, as well as community service activities, scientific contributions, student competitions, and all aspects of the college's progress during the academic year. The conference also discussed future visions for improving performance in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation.

During his address, Professor Dr. Muhannad Al-Asadi presented several key observations, focusing on strengthening the positive aspects of the college's performance and its potential for further development, while also highlighting challenges and seeking solutions.

Al-Asadi emphasized the university administration's commitment to supporting the College of Agriculture in addressing obstacles and providing innovative and sustainable solutions. He also highlighted the college's vital role in achieving national food security, protecting the environment, and supporting sustainable development.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, stressed the importance of graduating specialized personnel capable of meeting labor market needs and enhancing research leadership in agricultural technology and strategic crops. He also called for continued development of the college's facilities and laboratories, increased funding opportunities, and a rise in student enrollment to improve the college's scientific and research standing.

The conference concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at raising the level of academic and research performance and promoting innovation to serve the agricultural sector and contribute to achieving sustainable development in Iraq.
