The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organizes a scientific visit to the university's food processing plant in Basra Governorate.

Following the wise directives of the Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra to link academic study with practical application, the College of Agriculture organized a field trip for fourth-year students to the university's food processing plant in Karma Ali, Basra Governorate. This trip was part of the practical curriculum for the "Meat Processing" course and was supervised by the course instructor, Dr. Alaa Mohammed Sadkhan.

The student delegation was received by Dr. Nawfal Abdul Amir Hassan, the plant's director and general supervisor, who led the introductory tour and provided practical demonstrations throughout the plant.

Dr. Nawfal gave the students a comprehensive and detailed explanation of the scientific mechanisms for processing various meat products. The explanation included grinding and mixing technologies, a review of added ingredients and their functional impact on texture, flavor, and shelf life, with an emphasis on internationally recognized standard ratios. The students also observed the packaging stages and how humidity and temperature are controlled within the ripening chambers.

Dr. Nawfal explained to the students that working in meat processing plants requires high precision and strict oversight. He emphasized that the plant applies the highest safety and health standards to ensure the delivery of a safe food product that meets standard specifications.

Dr. Alaa, the course instructor, confirmed that this visit aimed to enhance the students' practical skills, familiarize them with the latest technologies used in meat preservation and processing, and help them understand quality control mechanisms and the application of HACCP food safety standards in a real-world work environment.

For their part, the students expressed their gratitude to Dr. Nawfal for his patience and valuable information, which translated complex theoretical concepts into tangible reality. They affirmed that these visits enhance their professional competence and prepare them well for the job market in the food processing sector.
