A faculty member from the University of Basra is participating in a central job training course at the Guidance and Training Center in Basra.

Dr. Fares Ibrahim Obaid, a faculty member from the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, participated in a central training course held at the Extension and Training Division. The course included a lecture titled "Developing the Skills and Knowledge of Technical Staff in the Cultivation and Management of Tomato Crops Adapted to Climate Change."

The course aimed to teach participants how to manage and cultivate tomato crops using modern agricultural techniques, develop strategies for cultivating more tolerant varieties, and familiarize them with sources of salinity stress in Iraqi soil and water, as well as how to manage these stresses and implement scientific recommendations to protect the crop from salinization.

The course addressed salinity stress, reviewing the sources of salinity in the Iraqi environment and its direct impact on the growth stages and productivity of tomato plants.

The course also reviewed technical solutions and agricultural practices that can mitigate the harmful effects of salinity, ensuring the sustainability of the crop in light of current climate challenges.
