The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled "The Effect of Planting Dates and Phosphate Fertilization Levels on the Growth and Yield of Yellow Corn."
The seminar, presented by researcher Fatima Hajim Sukkar, aimed to highlight two key factors: planting date—choosing the optimal time for optimal temperature and photoperiod growth, and avoiding heat stress during the flowering stage—and phosphate fertilization—determining the ideal amount of phosphorus, the plant's "energy engine," responsible for root growth, stem strength, and ear development.
The seminar included a comprehensive study of the factors affecting yellow corn productivity, with a particular focus on planting dates and phosphate fertilization levels.
