The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organizes a workshop on "Achievements of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Unit"

The Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Unit at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, organized a workshop entitled "Achievements of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Unit." The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Sadiq Jabbar Mohsen, and a number of faculty members, researchers, and staff.

The workshop, presented by the Director of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Unit, Professor Dr. Haider Subaih Shino, reviewed the administrative and scientific aspects of the unit's work during the current year and previous years. It highlighted the most significant achievements in the cultivation and propagation of medicinal and aromatic plants, and emphasized the unit's role in supporting scientific research, practical training, and community service, thereby contributing to the sustainable use of plant resources and the development of the agricultural sector.

The workshop included detailed presentations of the most important scientific and research activities carried out by the unit, training programs for students and researchers, and applied projects that have contributed to developing students' skills and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in the cultivation, production, and various uses of medicinal and aromatic plants.

The meeting also highlighted scientific collaborations with governmental institutions and the private sector, the unit's efforts in disseminating modern technologies for the cultivation and production of medicinal and aromatic plants, and future plans to develop the unit's infrastructure and expand its research and production activities. These plans aim to keep pace with the latest scientific advancements and contribute to supporting sustainable agricultural development and enhancing food and pharmaceutical security.
