The University of Basra organizes a seminar on the effect of partially hydrolyzed collagen membranes on the chemical and qualitative characteristics of grouper fish.

The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled "The Effect of Partially Hydrolyzed Collagen Films on the Chemical and Qualitative Properties of Frozen Grouper."

The seminar, presented by researcher Ilham Salem Abdullah, aimed to utilize fish waste, particularly the skin of grouper, to extract partially hydrolyzed collagen and use it as a biofilm for coating frozen fish.

The seminar included a presentation of the extraction steps and the chemical and thermal treatments, in addition to a comparison of coated and uncoated fish. The results demonstrated the role of the biofilm in preserving fish quality during freezing.

The seminar recommended further research into other fish sources to improve collagen properties.
