A doctoral dissertation at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, explored the "Integrated Management of the Lesser Date Moth (Batrachedra amydraula) on Date Palm Varieties in Basra Governorate."

The dissertation, presented by researcher Rusul Abdul-Amir Aboud, aimed to develop an integrated program to reduce the economic damage caused by the pest.

The study included developing monitoring and sampling methods, determining the economic threshold, and evaluating biological, chemical, and agricultural control methods. The results demonstrated the efficiency of sequential sampling plans in estimating infestation and reducing the number of samples required for control decisions.

The study recommended adopting an integrated monitoring and control program and developing an electronic application to support farmers' decisions.
