Basrah University opens a food industries laboratory

The President of Basra University, Prof. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, inaugurated the Food Industries Laboratory in the College of Agriculture after it had been suspended for several years, in order to contribute to supplying the local market with foods made from meat and poultry and to compete with imported products under the supervision of a professor of the College of Agriculture. The university president indicated his full support for such projects that produce the university's products for the local market. The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Prof. Sajid Saad Al-Nour, explained that the aim of the Food Industries Laboratory is to develop the experience of undergraduate and graduate students to apply the practical side to be ready in the future to open their own projects after graduation and thus provide employment opportunities for a number of graduates. He added that the deanship continues to open other pilot projects of interest to Basra Governorate, as well as the importance of the university's brand and the confidence of the visual community in its products, especially that the processed foods are under the supervision of experts from the professors of the Food Department in the College of Agriculture.
