Basra University discusses "a taxonomic and environmental study of some species of the family of terrestrial beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae)

Flags of the College of Agriculture In the Department of Plant Protection at the College of Agriculture, Basra University, a doctoral thesis by student Hashim Mhawi Tuama and tagged, a taxonomic and ecological study of some species of the terrestrial beetle family (Coleoptera: Carabidae) and the role of some of them in the predatory efficiency of some insect species in the Basra and Maysan governorates and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alaa Sabbeeh Jabbar The study aimed to conduct field surveys of ground beetles, diagnose their types, study the population density and the annual presence of them in Basra and Maysan governorates. 41 types of ground beetles were recorded in the study, 12 types of which were recorded for the first time in Iraq The study recommended the necessity to preserve the ground beetles by reducing the use of pesticides and chemicals in agricultural operations because of their toxic effect on the ground beetles, which contribute to the natural balance and to limit the high population density of some other arthropods
